Two Captain One Golf Society youth won the 2024 Obuasi Open Golf Championship

Ayisha Amidu and Jennifer Satura, both from the Captain One Golf Society’s kids project, won the 2024 Obuasi Open, which was place at the Obuasi Golf Club.

Ayisha Amidu, a rising amateur golfer with a handicap of 23, finished with 40 points to win the ladies’ category, followed by her fellow compatriot Jennifer Satura, who had 39 points with a handicap of 33.

Juliet Ayisu finished third with 33 points and a handicap of 30.

In the men’s division, Maxwell Acheampong won with 39 points and a handicap of nine, followed by John Asiaw, who returned with 38 points. Joshua Amarh, who had a handicap of seven, finished with 38 points but lost on countback against John Asiaw.

The two girls are beneficiaries of the Captain One Golf Society Kids Project, which tries to discover golf talent among the disadvantaged and vulnerable in golfing communities around the country.

The two are registered with the Royal Golf Club under the mentorship of professional golfer Yaw Barima Okyere through Kumasi Safe-Child Advocacy.

Aisha has had a successful year, winning significant tournaments such as the Latex Foam Medial at the Royal Golf Club in May, finishing second at the Ohum tournament at Tafo Golf Club in Koforidua, and the Pan African Tournament at the NsutaGolf and Country Club.

Ayisha expressed her joy after winning, saying it was a dream come true to fight on a huge stage and win the category.

“I am delighted to compete against other golfers and win this prize. “It was very difficult, but I’m glad to have won,” she said.

The triumph, she claimed, would give her a great boost going into other important events as she worked to become Ghana’s finest female golfer.

She thanked Captain One Golf Society for the opportunity to play golf and achieve achievement, as well as her instructor, Yaw Barimah Okyere.

Captain One Golf Society, through its president, Pius Ayeh Appiah, is urging well-meaning Ghanaians and corporate organizations to fund their initiatives that provide alternative livelihoods to young brilliant Ghanaians.
