According to a statement dated October 17, 2024, signed by the Acting Director for the Schools and Instruction Division, Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, the new academic year for all Senior High Schools will commence on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
The GES stated that first-year students in single-track and transitional schools will complete the current academic year on Monday, October 28, 2024.
The school year begins on Wednesday, October 30, for entering first-year students in single-track and transitional schools, as well as all continuing single-track students.
According to the GES, the revision is intended to ensure that the 2025/2026 academic year begins in September, allowing final-year students to sit their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in May/June.
GES has directed that all Regional Directors transmit the new calendar to Heads of Schools to facilitate a seamless adoption.
